Dartmouth Public Library is worked up to supply summer time applications for teenagers, teenagers and adults starting June 23, 2026. Records and Burpee Zoo Show – Tuesday, June 30

(1:30pm – Southworth & 4pm – North Branch)

This is an academic program with 7-8 unique or uncommon animals. Typical presentation- alpaca, squirrel monkey, massive python, massive tortoise, striped skunk, younger alligators, and extra with a meet and greet afterwards. Best for ages 4+.

Backyard Band Jams- Tuesday, July 7

(1:30pm – Southworth & 4pm – North Branch)

Families interact in musical play with new and conventional songs, sing-along storybooks, props, and devices. Children be taught core musical expertise by means of immersive musical play. 

Spread the Light African Drumming- Tuesday, July 14

(1:30pm – Southworth & 4pm – North Branch)

An thrilling and immersive drum workshop, specializing in components of conventional rhythms from Ghana, West Africa. Participants will discover a wide range of matters, reminiscent of polyrhythm and name & response, all performed on genuine, hand-crafted devices from Ghana. Logan Amaral is a musician and educator from the Greater Boston space and has taught all ages and carried out around the globe. He brings devices for everybody. Best for ages 5+.

Stomp, Chomp and Read: A Jurassic Balloon Magic Adventure- Tuesday, July 21

This program is supported partly by a grant from the Dartmouth Cultural Council, an area company which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state company.

Packed with dinosaurs, prehistoric sea creatures, magic, and an epic finale Jungle Jim hatches out of a six-foot balloon dinosaur egg. It’s interactive, instructional and a complete lot of enjoyable. Recommended for ages 3-12.

Ed the Wizard: Alchemy- Tuesday, July 28

(1:30pm – Southworth & 4pm – North Branch)

Presented by Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardens and funded by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries

This session will teach you everything you need to know to start your own indoor harvest. We will put together, and bring home, a quart container that will grow a ton of mushrooms.

Needle Felted Wildflower Hoop- Friday, July 10

Presented by Pop Up Art School and funded by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries

(2pm – Southworth Library, open to ages 11 and up)

Get ready for a needle felting class where you’ll create a stunning felted landscape showcasing mountains and vibrant wildflowers! Using a barbed needle, loose wool fibers and a felt-backed embroidery hoop, you’ll learn how to “paint” with wool. Even if you’ve never needle felted before you’ll be amazed at what you can learn in one 90 minute class.

Book Cover Bricks Painting Workshop- Friday, July 24

Funded through State Aid to Public Libraries and donations from Dartmouth Highway Department

(2pm – Southworth Library, open to ages 11 and up)

Bring your imagination and your favorite book titles, and we’ll provide the rest! You’ll learn how to bring iconic book covers to life using a unique “canvas”, a real brick, perfect for a bookshelf or garden display. We’ll provide all the supplies you need to create your masterpiece.

Clay Sea Turtle Bowl- Friday, August 7

Presented by Pop Up Art School and funded by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries

(2pm – Southworth Library, open to ages 11 and up)

Jump into the fun of creating your own unique turtle-themed bowl with air dry clay! With Pop up Art School’s step-by-step guidance, you’ll craft, paint, and finish a charming piece in no time. Get your hands dirty and leave with a finished piece that’s truly your own!

Quick Pickling Workshop- Friday, August 21

Presented by Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardens and funded by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries

Whether you have an abundance of summer squash, zucchini, or cucumbers, we’ll show you how to turn them into crisp, tangy treats in no time. The best part? You’ll get to roll up your sleeves and create your own batch every participant will head home with a pint jar of delicious pickles they made themselves!

Summer Reading Program: “Plant a Seed, Read!”

Dartmouth Public Library invites community members of all ages to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Program, “Plant a Seed, Read!” Designed to inspire a love of reading all summer long, the program offers engaging and rewarding ways for participants to stay motivated and explore new books.

Pre-readers can complete a Summer Reading Bingo sheet with the help of a caregiver and earn a prize upon completion. Children can participate by playing Summer Reading Bingo, with weekly prize drawings for each completed bingo and a grand prize entry awarded for finishing the entire board. Teens and adults can join the fun with Scratch-to-Win tickets, instant winners may choose prizes from the library’s prize cart, while non-winning tickets can be entered into a grand prize drawing.

With opportunities to win prizes, discover new favorites, and build lasting reading habits, the Summer Reading Program is a fun and flexible way for readers of all ages to stay connected with the library throughout the season.
