2026 Commonwealth Games: Neil Gourley would ‘crawl’ monitor to function in Glasgow

Neil Gourley is a person on a mission. The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow looms massive this summer time and the 31-year-old Scot is set to forged off months of harm frustration with a starrring function.

“I will be there if I have to crawl round the four laps of the track,” he instructed BBC Scotland.

Gourley, who has world and European indoor 1500m silver medals to his identify, has already been chosen for the mile occasion in his house metropolis after an “injury-plagued winter that was dominated by two different injuries”.

“I am doing a lot better now than I was a few months ago,” Gourley added.

His winter started on the sidelines, coping with a patella tendon tear that had been troubling him final season.

After returning in February, a damaged foot the next month consigned him to additional weeks on the sidelines.

Hardly supreme preparation for his bid to be a house hero.

However, he defined: “I am starting to really see some consistency now and thanks to the cross training I was doing, I don’t seem to be too far away from fitness.

“The problem is to show that throughout into health in time for the Commonwealth Games amongst different issues this summer time.

“I will never shy away from the fact I want to be at the top end of championships and I would love to win a medal in Glasgow, but it is going to be incredibly challenging.

“I’ve made it more durable for myself by having among the setbacks I did this 12 months. But if on daily basis goes to plan between every now and then I feel I will probably be actually aggressive in that ultimate.”
