7 ENC websites fail Swim Guide Week 6 checks

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – Seven websites in Eastern Carolina failed this week’s Swim Guide water-quality checks, in response to Sound Rivers.

Those websites had been the waterfront and Havens Gardens in Washington, Dinah’s Landing at Goose Creek State Park, Bonner Point and Plum Point in Bath, Trent Woods on the Trent River, and Slocum Creek in Havelock.

This is the sixth week that Slocum Creek has failed the Swim Guide take a look at.

“I’m not surprised to see that the number of sites failing went up this week,” stated Clay Barber, Sound Rivers’ program director. “The sites on the Tar-Pam that failed this week had some pretty good rain, and whenever that happens, stormwater runoff is washing bacteria into the waterways.”

Sound Rivers says elevated ranges of fecal micro organism had been discovered at each places, which might enhance the chance of gastrointestinal sickness and pores and skin infections for folks and pets.
