Victor Plante drafted by Red Wings in second spherical of NHL Draft

Detroit — The Red Wings have added one other Plante to the group.

The Wings drafted winger Victor Plante with their first decide Saturday (forty seventh total) within the second spherical of the NHL Entry Draft.

Victor is the brother of Max Plante, who, paradoxically, was additionally picked with the forty seventh decide within the 2024 Entry Draft.

“Pretty awesome,” Victor mentioned of getting picked by the Wings. “Just going to the same organization as my brother, it’s a huge honor.”

Plante lived with the household of former Wings goaltender Chris Osgood this previous season.

“It was great, he’s a fun guy to be around,” Plante mentioned. “He took me to about 4 or 5 video games. It was sick.

“It’s unreal. It’s Hockeytown for a cause. They reside and breathe hockey. The followers are so passionate. There’s a lot power within the constructing, a lot enjoyable. Just the historical past, it is superior.”

All three Plante brothers, including Zam, a Pittsburgh Penguins prospect, will play at Minnesota-Duluth this season.

“It’s going to be a lot enjoyable,” Victor said. “Just having the ability to play with them. The Hobey Baker winner (Max), that is going to be so sick. It’ll be superior. We’ll have a great workforce, so I’m excited.”
