FREE Waterland Children’s Festival returns Friday, July 17 with ‘magical day crammed with enjoyable’

The beloved Waterland Children’s Festival guarantees a magical day crammed with enjoyable, studying, and group spirit for households throughout Des Moines.

Scheduled for Noon–4 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Des Moines Field House Park, this 12 months’s competition will characteristic quite a lot of Camp KHAOS video games, sports activities, waterplay and contests, reside DJ, puppeteer, and dance performances, interactive arts and crafts, hat making, and hydroplane, kite, and parade float building initiatives, facepainting, firetrucks, free meals and snacks, group cubicles, studying actions, and 4 huge Merry Makers inflatables.

“Bring a towel and sunscreen!”

The competition, which celebrates creativity and childhood pleasure, will open its gates at 12 p.m. and run till 4 p.m. Parking is situated on the Field House and on the adjoining elementary faculty car parking zone.  

“We are excited to bring the community together once again to celebrate the joys of childhood,” mentioned Patrice Thorell, Legacy Foundation President. “Our goal is to create an exciting, inclusive, engaging, and memorable experience for Des Moines children and their families. Admission is free, with donations welcomed to assist youth programming and group outreach.
