Photo Membership – ‘Black & White Photography’

Join us as we discover the timeless artwork of black and white images. Stripping away shade forces us to suppose otherwise — about mild, shadow, texture, and distinction — and sometimes reveals the emotion and construction of a scene in ways in which shade can masks. Whether you’re new to B&W or trying to sharpen your method, this session has one thing for everybody.

We’ll Cover:

• Why shoot in black and white — the inventive case for going monochrome
• Seeing in B&W: coaching your eye to learn mild, distinction, and tonal vary
• In-camera vs. post-processing: taking pictures in B&W mode vs. changing shade RAW information
• Key modifying strategies: tonal changes, distinction, dodging and burning
• Classic B&W topics and what makes them work
• Tips for printing and displaying monochrome photographs

As at all times, convey your digicam in the event you’d prefer to share current photographs, and are available prepared to debate what attracts you to (or makes you interested in) black and white. We sit up for seeing you there!

Photo Challenge: This month now we have two problem choices — choose one (or each)!

Option 1 — Aperture: Take a photograph the place aperture was a deliberate artistic selection. Wide open for a comfortable, blurry background? Stopped down for front-to-back sharpness? It’s as much as you. It doesn’t must be something particular, only a shot the place you deliberately used aperture to get the consequence you needed.

Option 2 — Red, White & Blue: Capture a picture impressed by pink, white, and blue — whether or not that’s a patriotic scene, on a regular basis objects, or one thing extra summary. Have enjoyable with it!

Whichever possibility you select, submit your picture to photoclub@lewisburgartscouncil.com at the very least 2 days earlier than the assembly. We’ll show them for the group, and photographers can have the prospect to share just a little about their picture — what drew them to the shot or how they captured it.
