Swimmer bitten by shark at Jones Beach on Field 6 on Long Island

JONES BEACH, New York (WABC) — A swimmer suffered a minor harm after he was apparently bitten by a shark at Jones Beach on Friday afternoon.

The man was bitten within the left foot at Jones Beach State Park Field 6 someday after midday. It occurred on a busy day when over 100,000 individuals got here to the seaside to observe the air present observe.

The sufferer was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with a non-life-threatening harm. The wound was described as a deep shark tooth-like form on the underside of the person’s foot.

Swimming was suspended whereas officers searched the beachfront for sharks or every other harmful marine life.

After no sharks or different harmful marine life had been positioned for an hour, swimmers had been allowed again into the water as much as their waists.

It comes after a shark was noticed earlier Friday morning round 10:30 a.m. at Rockaway Beach in Queens. Swimming was suspended for an hour.

The Parks Department used drones and stated at the least three sharks had been noticed at Rockaway Beach on Thursday.
