Duxbury man drowns whereas swimming to his boat

A 66-year-old man drowned in Duxbury over the weekend, in line with Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz’s workplace.

On Monday, Cruz’s workplace confirmed that James Merlin, of Duxbury, was the sufferer.

At about 4:34 p.m. Sunday, authorities acquired a number of 911 calls a couple of swimmer in misery. The callers mentioned the swimmer was in Duxbury Bay close to Bradford Road, the Duxbury Fire Department mentioned in an announcement.

According to Cruz’s workplace, police acquired reviews that an unresponsive man was floating within the water.

Bystanders jumped into the water, reached the swimmer, and introduced him to shore. An off-duty Duxbury police officer who was already on the scene instantly started administering CPR, according to fireside officers.

Members of the Duxbury Fire Department arrived alongside the harbormaster and police. They transferred the person to an ambulance, which then introduced him to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth.

Merlin was pronounced lifeless about an hour after police had been initially known as, Cruz’s workplace mentioned. A member of the family advised investigators that Merlin had left his house and walked to the seaside, with the intention of swimming to his boat and driving it to a close-by marina.

State police are investigating, however authorities don’t consider foul play was concerned, Cruz’s workplace mentioned.
