The prime fundamental streets in America ooze persona and appeal, and two of the very best within the nation are in Massachusetts and Maine, in accordance with Travel + Leisure.

The journey publication not too long ago launched a listing of the 10 most charming main streets in the U.S., and included Nantucket and Brunswick, Maine.

“Lined with bookstores, cafés, boutiques, bars, galleries, and generations-old businesses, these streets serve as gathering places for locals and visitors alike while reflecting the personality of the communities around them,” wrote the publication.

A stroll alongside Main Street in Nantucket “takes you back to the 1800s,” in accordance with Travel + Leisure, as a consequence of its centuries-old appeal.

“Here, Greek Revival homes sit alongside locally owned boutiques, cafés, and wooden benches where visitors linger over coffee or pause to people-watch,” wrote the publication.

Meanwhile, the appropriately named Maine Street in Brunswick, Maine, “captures the kind of small-town New England charm that feels increasingly rare,” wrote Travel + Leisure.

Pedestrians can go to a favourite doughnut store established in 1965, in addition to “independent boutiques, bookstores, and chocolate shops that give the area an easygoing, community-driven feel,” wrote the publication.

Other streets on the checklist are in Charleston, S.C.; Carmel-by-the-Sea in California; and Park City, Utah; South Haven, Michigan; Madison, Indiana; Palm Beach, Florida; Leavenworth, Washington; and Boulder, Colorado.
