It is humorous how issues fall into place on the path. Friends outdated and new coming collectively on the town…particularly at hostels. Happy Independence Day!

A pair miles to the Carter Notch Hut, the place we bought free blueberry espresso cake, yum! Then it was UP! I hiked over the Carter Dome, Mt. Hight, then Middle and North Carter Mountains. This was not an terrible day.

We hiked up and over Mt. Moriah, then down beside the Rattle River, to Route 2. We hitch-hiked again to the Libby shelter, the place we stayed one other evening.

17.1 miles at present. The Libby Hostel dropped us off at Route 2, and mountaineering started about 6:45am. After a short street stroll, we went up Cascade Mountain, simply to heat up the legs.
