Vitality Arts Pictures Workshop – Frist Art Museum

Learn new expertise and discover your creativity utilizing iPads and digital images on this free workshop, taught by DaShawn Lewis at Nashville Public Library Edgehill Branch. This workshop is introduced in partnership with the Frist Art Museum and supported by E. A. Michelson Philanthropy and the Tennessee Art Commission. 

The class will study new expertise every week and achieve instruments for inventive expression whereas creating neighborhood and interesting with the Frist’s exhibitions and packages. The workshop consists of eight 90-minute art-making periods, with a culminating reception and celebration on week 9. Participants additionally obtain a complimentary one-year membership to the Frist Art Museum. All supplies are offered, and there’s no cost for the category.

About the Instructor

DaShawn Lewis, a self-taught photographer, focuses on on a regular basis life, on a regular basis folks, and selling youth arts in his work. Born and raised in Nashville, his ardour for images traces again to his childhood. When making photos, he prioritizes constructing neighborhood and fostering connections. Lewis practices “life photography,” which authentically paperwork real-life occasions, folks, and environments. Lewis, alongside his inventive friends, collaborates on workshops and exhibitions with the Edgehill Brighter Days Program in South Nashville underneath the management of Nancy Crutcher. Through his neighborhood outreach, Lewis connects and collaborates with native artists, constructing a stronger arts neighborhood in Nashville.
