Seven enjoyable KC World Cup photographs from my cellphone digicam roll

On the opening day of the World Cup, I joined thousands of other visitors at Fan Fest at the National World War I Museum and Memorial. Most were wearing green jerseys because the first match was held in Mexico City.

There was a buzz as the World Cup was just starting, and Kansas City was going to be among the 16 host cities — one of 11 in the United States. At halftime, I headed to Union Station where I bumped into an older couple from England.

More soccer fans? Nope. It was merely coincidence that they were in Kansas City.

“You’ve met the one Englishman who doesn’t care at all about football,” the man said.

Alas, it was a chance meeting and so brief that I didn’t ask their names or a photo of them, which I regret. But over the past six weeks, there were some great pictures on my phone, and I’m guessing yours, too.
