These are simply two of the submissions short-listed within the 18th annual Astronomy Photographer of the Year competitors. Organized by the Royal Observatory Greenwich, the competitors drew almost 4,000 submissions from 769 photographers in 66 nations. Entries embrace images of auroras, galaxies and landscapes of Earth’s moon.

Judges will select winners in 9 classes in addition to award two particular prizes and choose one general winner.
“It doesn’t usually take a whole lot of debate for the judges to come to a decision about what image it is,” Brown mentioned. “There’ll always be something about it that makes it stand out.”
The Astronomy Photographer of the Year will obtain 10,000 kilos (about $13,300), whereas every class winner can be awarded 1,500 kilos (about $2,000). Runners-up and extremely counseled entrants will obtain smaller financial prizes.
