Underneath the ocean: Mermaids swimming to the Mississippi Aquarium in coming months

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) — Mermaids from all around the world are coming quickly to the Mississippi Aquarium to go to South Mississippi.

Mermaid Kai made her journey from the Caribbean a bit sooner than her different mermaid sisters.

She says they look ahead to having all the youngsters meet them below the ocean and educating them about their adventures.

“So my sea sisters and I will be swimming in the exhibit,” Mermaid Kai mentioned. “And there will also be someone out here on meet-and-greet to welcome kids, say hi, take a photo. And in the exhibit, they can get nice and close to the glass and we’ll be blowing bubble kisses at them.”

Mermaid Kai additionally mentioned this can be a likelihood for the mermaids to show youngsters the significance of environmental impacts and how one can hold our waters clear.

“It’s really magical to see the sparkle in their eyes and help inspire them to become ocean guardians,” Mermaid Kai mentioned. “It’s really nice to do really simple things like use your reusable water bottles and also bring reusable bags to the grocery store to help keep plastics out of my home.”
