Hyères Competition – again on observe with 10 new rising image-makers

Those fundamentals circle round fostering younger expertise, who within the pictures part could be loosely affiliated with vogue (although the opposite awards are for rising vogue and equipment designers). Iin earlier years image-makers reminiscent of Thaddé Comar and Arhant Shrestha have been recognised, Comar making radical work on protests in Hong Kong and political posturing in France, Shrestha specializing in male sexuality in Nepal. 

The 2026 finalists embrace two photographers from China, Honglin Cai and  Xueling Chen; two photographers from Switzerland, Zacharie Lewertoff and Lorane Hochstatter; two photographers from France, Julien Rahmani and Sidonie Ronfard, plus Giulia Frigieri from Italy, Yun Ki Ng from Hong Kong, Motoki Nakatani from Japan, and Valeria Sarto from Italy/US. And Guérin notes a supportive, collegiate environment among the many finalists, regardless of the very fact they’re in a contest. 

The pageant produces a gaggle present by the finalists, together with a dozen prints per shortlisted artists, made by SHERIFF PROJECTS and its laboratory and post-production studio. A much less tangible however equally vital prize is the unparalleled entry to decision-makers – the pageant attracts about 2000 accredited professionals from numerous inventive milieux, who migrate to the south to benefit from the pageant, and “discuss in an informal manner”, in keeping with Guérin. “It’s a little bubble,” she provides.
