Seek for 16-year-old swimmer in Gun Lake close to Orangeville Island to renew at dawn

ORANGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The seek for a 16-year-old boy who went lacking in Gun Lake Wednesday continues Thursday morning.

An MSP spokesperson confirmed Wednesday a teen went lacking within the water, and Thursday, troopers confirmed he’s a 16-year-old boy.

Crews searched by way of Wednesday evening into till about 1 a.m. Thursday and began up once more when visibility improved at about 9 a.m.

All boat launches to the lake are shut down whereas the search continues, troopers stated, and all boat house owners with lake entry are being requested to remain off the water.

A News Channel 3 crew on the scene Wednesday noticed quite a few boats within the water looking out round Orangeville Island, which is positioned within the southern area of the lake.

Agencies on scene embody the Orangeville Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Barry County Sheriff’s Office, and Great Lakes Rescue.
