About the Speaker: Dr. Lauren Ptomey is an Associate Professor for the Department of Internal Medicine on the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Ptomey’s main analysis focus is the promotion of weight administration and bodily exercise in people with mental and developmental disabilities, together with Down syndrome. This inhabitants is undeserved and at an elevated threat of weight problems and its associated co-occurring situations, together with Alzheimer’s Disease. There is minimal analysis taking a look at methods to enhance weight-reduction plan, bodily exercise, and weight administration in people with Down syndrome. Dr. Ptomey’s secondary analysis focus is the prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease in adults with Down syndrome. She is the positioning PI for the NIH funded Alzheimer’s Biomarker Consortium-Down syndrome for Down syndrome and the Clinical Trials to Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease in Down Syndrome longitudinal cohort. Dr. Ptomey has accomplished the biggest and longest weight administration and bodily exercise research for this inhabitants, and her work has knowledgeable a number of healthcare and coverage suggestions.
