Last week at Virtuoso Travel Week, I hosted a captivating dialog on storytelling. And on the flight again residence to LA, it bought me fascinated with how I got here to be having that dialogue at a journey convention in Las Vegas after 25+ years in international TV manufacturing.

Looking again, perhaps it’s not such a leap.

My first internship was in a UK excessive road journey company. My first job after faculty was at journey startup lastminute.com. And my first media function was because the BBC’s first (and final!) Holiday Prize Manager, working with locations and journey companions to deliver locations to the display screen.

Then I grew to become a producer.

From BBC Studios reveals like Jet Set to Netflix sequence together with Marseille, The Protector in Istanbul and Dogs of Berlin, I’ve spent a lot of my profession engaged on tales deeply rooted in place and tradition.

On reflection, there’s a reasonably clear thread.

Today, while producing and consulting at Taitt Media right here in Hollywood, I’m seeing one thing else fascinating occurring:

Entertainment is turning into experiential.
Hospitality is turning into media.
And as we speak, the display screen doesn’t simply inform tales. It creates need for place.

So maybe speaking storytelling at a journey convention isn’t such an sudden flip in spite of everything.
