I used low-cost recording devices in Besigye assembly – American witness

On Monday, Mr Wilson instructed courtroom of how he had used 11 devices fitted with hidden cameras and microphones to secretly document conferences involving Dr Besigye and different individuals in Athens (Greece), Geneva (Switzerland) and Nairobi (Kenya) between 2023 and 2024 about their alleged treasonous plans.

The gadgets, he mentioned, included flash drives, necklaces, energy banks, wristwatches and a USB charger, amongst others.
Further in his testimony, the witness mentioned Dr Besigye, his associates Joel Wakayima and Frank Kehiriwe have been critical about their plans.
“After the first meeting, I sent the audios and videos to Mr Moses Barasa to pass them on to the Uganda security. I was very apprehensive, and so were other members who are in the Uganda security. Besigye, Wakayima and Kehiriwe were serious about their plans,” he mentioned.

He added: “In the meantime, Besigye, Wakayima and Kehiriwe were moving forward with their plans for the training camp in Kisumu [Kenya]. To confirm that they were serious, I made excuses for why the December training was cancelled, such as the company I was representing not producing the funding.”

Mr Wilson mentioned they agreed to have the second and follow-up assembly in Geneva on January 28, 2024.
He claimed that within the mentioned assembly that happened in his rented condo, the principle matter for dialogue was progress and transfer ahead.

“Before the meeting, I mentioned to Wakayima the idea or proposal of assassinating President Yoweri Museveni. Also, in the meeting, we discussed the financing, logistical support, Dr Besigye’s group, and whether they were capable of mobilising support and how they had planned to take on the country by force of arms,” he mentioned.

Mr Wilson added: “The meeting took place in Geneva in my rented apartment, which was five minutes from the Century Station, which is very busy. I recorded the video with two magnetic audio devices and a covert camera in a power bank, which I laid on the main table in the meeting room.”

He mentioned three individuals, Dr Besigye, Mr Wakayima and himself, attended this second assembly in Geneva.
Further, the witness mentioned previous to this assembly, he met Dr Besigye and Mr Wakayima within the foyer of the resort, earlier than strolling with them again to the condo to ensure they weren’t watched or adopted.

When requested about what they have been discussing, the witness knowledgeable courtroom that they have been discussing the assassination plot, and that Mr Wakayima needed to be praised for doing it, however Dr Besigye and himself, instructed it might be higher accountable it on the Allied Democratic Forces.
