Contained in the Orange Line’s 11-day shutdown: new tracks and hopes for 55 mph journey

Almost half of the MBTA’s Orange Line is shut down for and 11-day stretch, as a small military of staff hustle by shifts across the clock to interchange and stage tracks, repair sign programs and restore service by Aug. 31.

“We trust, but we verify all along the way,” Coholan stated. “As production work occurs, we keep up on the verification, we keep up on the quality assurance, and that gives us time to go back and address anything.”
