Police intensify crackdown on unregistered vehicles, unlawful blue lights and sirens

Police have intensified their crackdown on motorists driving unregistered autos and people fitted with unlawful blue lights, sirens and different unauthorised devices, ordering officers countrywide to arrest offenders and impound their autos.

The renewed enforcement drive follows earlier police operations towards the unlawful use of blue lights and autos transferring on Zimbabwe’s roads with out registration plates.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi mentioned the Commissioner-General had directed all police stations, districts and provinces to take stern motion following what authorities described as a unbroken and “disturbing trend” of motorists brazenly flouting the legislation.

“The Commissioner-General of Police has directed all Police stations, Districts and Provinces to take stern action by effecting arrests and impounding all vehicles with no registration plates and those with illegal blue lights or fittings,” Nyathi mentioned in a press release Tuesday.

The intensified crackdown targets autos being pushed with out registration numbers or plates, in addition to motorists utilizing blue lights, sirens, bar lights, beams and different fittings not authorised by legislation.

Police mentioned the continued use of such devices was threatening legislation and order.
