C.J. Moran Named SCSU Males’s and Girls’s Swimming & Diving Head Coach

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University Director of Athletics Terrance Jones introduced that C.J. Moran has been named the subsequent Head Coach of the SCSU males’s and ladies’s swimming & diving packages. Moran competed for SCSU underneath Hutchinson, Wise and Quill and was a part of the inspiration that established the Owls because the premier program within the Northeast 10. As an assistant, he has coached quite a few NE10 champions, All-Americans, and NCAA qualifiers.

Moran holds a bachelor’s diploma in social work from Southern Connecticut State University.

“I am excited for the opportunity to continue to work with our student athletes and to further pursue the tradition of excellence of SCSU Swimming and Diving that was set forth by my predecessors Dr. Bruce Hutchinson, Tim Wise, and Tim Quill,” Moran stated.

The appointment comes after a historic and emotional 2025-26 season for the Owls. Following the sudden passing of Coach Quill on February 10, 2026 – two days earlier than the NE10 Championships – the ladies’s crew captured its sixth-consecutive and 18th general NE10 title in a “Win for Tim”. Quill, in his twenty seventh season at Southern, constructed some of the profitable packages in SCSU and NE10 historical past, incomes 17 males’s and 18 ladies’s NE10 titles.
