Lehigh University Men’s Program Suspended for Hazing Allegations; Investigation Underway

Lehigh University has suspended all actions associated to its males’s swimming and diving program as a consequence of hazing allegations, in keeping with a report by SwimSwam. The suspension took impact on September 15 and the college is conducting an investigation of this system. Lehigh is scheduled to start out the season on Oct. 2 with its annual Brown & White Meet, an intrasquad competitors. On Oct. 10, the Mountain Hawks are scheduled to compete towards Loyola.

“Acts of hazing are antithetical to the values of our community. Lehigh University is committed to working across campus to foster a culture that supports an inclusive, safe, and healthy community for student-athletes, as well as the whole Lehigh community,” Lehigh University stated in an announcement to SwimSwam.

In 2020, the college’s swimming program obtained a disciplinary warning for hazing, as members of the workforce had been pressured to participate in early-morning punishment swims for violating workforce guidelines. According to documentation from the college, all workforce members had been required to take part in an academic program associated to hazing and workforce accountability.
