NC By Train launches free transit connection program for rail passengers

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — Passengers touring between Raleigh and Charlotte will quickly have a neater method to hook up with public transit at stops alongside North Carolina’s intercity passenger rail route.

NC By Train’s new Rail & Ride cross will assist passengers journey farther with out the trouble of visitors or parking.

“Rail & Ride is about improving passenger experience and connectivity,” stated Jason Orthner, director of the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Rail Division. “We’re proud to partner with local transit agencies to give our passengers a smoother, more connected travel experience from start to finish.”

Customers can connect with collaborating native transit programs as a part of their NC By Train ticket buy, making it simpler to succeed in their vacation spot and not using a automobile.

“A truly multimodal transportation network relies on logical connections between different modes of transportation, and programs like Rail & Ride ensure that riders can reach their destinations, whether across the state or within their own community,” stated Brennon Fuqua, director of NCDOT’s Integrated Mobility Division.

The program contains entry to the next transit programs alongside the NC By Train hall:

• Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART)

• High Point Transit System

• Charlotte Area Transit System

Greensboro Transit Agency will be a part of Oct. 1.

Passengers can enter their journey info on the NCByTrain web site to obtain a Rail & Ride code by e-mail. The code will be redeemed by collaborating transit companies’ cellular apps for bus or light-rail connections at no extra price.
