Pennington County showcases native pictures

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO)– Out of lots of of photographs submitted, 37 have been chosen to brighten the partitions of the Pennington County Administration constructing.

“We just realize, you know, these walls are very blank. So we really wanted to have some artists go through, you know, we’ve been looking at having some photography or artwork throughout the walls since we moved into the building, and we were pleasantly surprised. I would say that in total, we got over 350 submissions,” Communications Manager Cody Wiseman stated.

The county not solely chosen native photographers, but additionally all the pictures shine a light-weight on the historical past of the world.

“I see bare walls, and I’m like, they could do so much more by showing local art, which means a lot to me, that they picked that because I don’t want to see just art. I want to see stuff that’s familiar to me,” Local Photographer Joyce Sauer stated.

The County needed to cowl 4 pillars of the world with these photographs. Those embody wildlife, Native American tradition, landscapes, and the group.

“These photos are going to bring so much life to this building, being able to walk through and, you know, not only see how beautiful Pennington County really is, but also to take in the fact that these photos were from our community. So it shows the artists and the professionalism we have within our community,” Wiseman stated.

“Things that make you pause and just think about what you’re seeing and experiencing and how it might move you. I appreciate those times, capturing it and looking at it later, and that other people can enjoy that too.” Sauer stated.
