Exploring water by means of pictures, tales and movies

As a part of this 12 months’s Festival, UNESCO WWAP will inaugurate a images exhibition exploring the themes of its World Water Development Reports: Water for prosperity and peace, Partnerships and cooperation for water, and Water for all individuals, equal rights and alternatives. The exhibition contains a number of essentially the most important images submitted to The Walk of Water, the annual images competitors organized by WWAP in collaboration with OneWater.

Through the eyes of photographers from around the globe, the photographs discover the profound relationship between individuals and water, bringing to life tales, landscapes and experiences that convey the complexity, magnificence and common worth of this important useful resource.
 

UNESCO WWAP will even host a screening session that includes quick documentaries that discover and have fun our relationship with pure sources, in collaboration with Let’s Talk About Water (LTAW).

The programme will embrace three quick movies from the 2026 LTAW Water Film Prize: The Land Smiles Back (Kenya), Forgotten Flows of Karez (Pakistan), and Land of Wells (Tunisia), adopted by Dry Sicily (Italy), a documentary exploring Sicily’s extreme water disaster and the impression of droughts.

The session will conclude with The Voices of Boreal, a video excerpt from the documentary The Issue with Tissue, created by Michael Zelniker.

The screenings shall be adopted by a debate amongst Mr. Mauro Nunzio, Mr. Michael Zelniker each filmmakers, the biologist Antonella Fioravanti, Chiara Biscarini, UNESCO Chair on Water and Culture, and Miguel Doria, UNESCO WWAP Coordinator. 

The movies will present a chance to discover, from completely different views, the challenges surrounding water and the administration of pure sources.
