THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech swimming and diving teams will host its opening dual meet of the season against neighbors Emory on Saturday from the iconic McAuley Aquatic Center at 11 a.m.
Georgia Tech vs. Emory
The two schools have met each season in the last five years, this meeting will serve as the home opener for the third time in the last five seasons. The Jackets have won all of the previous battles with the Eagles including last year’s encounter as the men secured a 218-81 victory before the women notched a 185.5-111.5 win over the D-III national runner-up squad.
Tech secured two intrasquad records in its annual white versus gold matchup as junior transfer Leo Verschooten swam a 20.46 time in the 50 free event after swimming the 50 fly leg of the winning 200 medley relay squad. James Sorensen, Tobin Uhl, Verschooten, and Stephen Jones finished at 1:29.29 to secure the fastest time in the opening meet.
Max Fowler will open his senior season following a record-breaking junior campaign. He shattered both the 1-meter and 3-meter program session records and became a four-time CSCAA All-American following his third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships. He was named the 2026 ACC Men’s Diver of the Meet after defending his 3-meter conference crown, securing silver in the 1-meter finals, and was the only ACC diver to reach all three finals.
Georgia Tech returns six swimming finalists from the 2025 ACC Championships and finished ranked inside the top-50 of Swimcloud’s final 2025-26 dual rankings for both men’s and women’s teams. The men placed 39th overall with the women slotted in at 48th.
Full Steam Ahead
Full Steam Ahead is a $500 million fundraising initiative to achieve Georgia Tech athletics’ goal of competing for championships at the highest level in the next era of intercollegiate athletics. The initiative will fund transformative projects for Tech athletics, including renovations of Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field (the historic home of Georgia Tech football), the Zelnak Basketball Center (the practice and training facility for Tech basketball) and O’Keefe Gymnasium (the venerable home of Yellow Jackets volleyball), as well as additional projects and initiatives to further advance Georgia Tech athletics through program wide-operational support.
