Leal Shines Bright as Conference Carolinas’ Star Swimmer of the Week!

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas department revealed their weekly Swimmer of the Week honors on Monday afternoon, Converse University competitor Tyler Leal (Augusta, Ga.) was honored as Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his achievements in the pool.

Though the Valkyries faced a disappointing 142-108 outcome against King, Leal showcased an impressive individual performance. The Peachtree State native concluded the meet with one victory, two second place results, and two third place finishes. Individually, Leal triumphed in the 50-yard breaststroke event clocking in at 27.79 seconds. The freshman also secured third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.04, and third in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24.04 seconds.

As a participant in both the 400 free relay team and the 400 medley relay, Leal achieved second place. The 400 free relay team recorded a combined time of 3:17.87, while Leal’s relay split time was 49.66 seconds. The 400 medley relay team culminated their event with a total time of 3:38.15, with Leal posting a relay split of 59.44 seconds.

Leal and his fellow male swim team members will return to competition on January 11^th. The Valkyries are set to compete against Barton and Emmanuel, with the meet scheduled to commence at 11:00 a.m. inside the Montgomery Student Center.
