Hanukkah celebration

Chabad of Humboldt will host “Chanukah on the Plaza” today at 4:30 p.m.

Marsh excursion

Friends of the Arcata Marsh will organize a complimentary tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday.

Join leader Sharon Levy at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center located on South G Street for a 90-minute stroll concentrating on birds, wastewater treatment, and/or marsh history. Wetlands volunteer day

The Redwood Region Audubon Society will facilitate a “Wigi Wetlands Volunteer Workday” on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Helpers are needed to develop bird-friendly native habitats and restore part of the bay trail by eliminating invasive species and litter. This month, volunteers will also be clearing most weeds from designated areas and distributing seeds for native wildflowers. The section of the trail is situated behind the Bayshore Mall, and participants will convene in the parking lot directly behind Walmart. The Redwood Region Audubon Society will supply tools, gloves, and pre-packaged snacks. Volunteers ought to bring their own drinking water.
