The laptop producer Clevo is allegedly gearing up to unveil a brand-new, high-performance 18-inch laptop at CES 2025, featuring remarkably high-spec internals and next-generation CPUs. IT Home reports that a source has revealed the specifications of this new laptop, which supposedly includes Arrow Lake-HX series 55W CPU choices, an extensive 18-inch display, and the capability for up to 192GB of memory.
Details on specific Arrow Lake HX CPU variants remain undisclosed, but leaked information indicates that the laptop will function on the “Arrow Lake HX 55W platform,” so we can anticipate that it will be compatible with any Arrow Lake HX series mobile CPU from Intel featuring a 55W TDP or lower. Clevo has also significantly enhanced the memory configuration, providing four DDR5 SODIMM memory slots supporting memory speeds of up to DDR5-5600.
This GPU framework will allegedly incorporate an Nvidia “GN22” board driving a single GPU. As expected, GN22 is rumored to be the mobile board platform powering Nvidia’s mobile iterations of its RTX 50 series GPUs.
Storage options comprise an impressive four PCIe M.2 slots, with one operating at PCIe 5.0 speeds and the remaining slots at PCIe 4.0 speeds. This Clevo 18-inch laptop might be among the first devices to support PCIe 5.0 SSDs thanks to Intel’s upgraded Arrow Lake I/O. All four M.2 slots accommodate the widely used M.2 2280 form factor.
As noted, the display specifications feature an 18-inch panel with a “Narrow Bezel Design.” There will be two resolution choices, 4K and 1440p. It remains uncertain which display option will be the “premium choice.” Typically, the higher resolution display is considered the flagship version, but there is a possibility that the 1440p option may appeal more to gamers if it delivers a higher refresh rate and improved response times; only time will reveal if this will be the case. The screen will also inherently support G-Sync, providing gamers with adaptive refresh rate capabilities.
The I/O configuration includes dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (with one being powered), one mini-DisplayPort, one HDMI port, a 2-in-1 audio jack, dual (indeed, that’s two) RJ-45 Ethernet ports, and a single DC-in for powering. The highlight of this setup is the laptop’s dual Thunderbolt 5 type-C ports. Interestingly, these two ports are alleged to derive solely from the Nvidia discrete GPUs, not from the Arrow Lake CPU or the motherboard itself. This implies that Nvidia is embedding Thunderbolt support directly into the RTX 50 series GPUs, which would mark one of the most significant I/O advancements for GPUs in recent years. The HDMI and DisplayPort connections are similarly powered by the discrete GPU alone.
This formidable Clevo 18-inch powerhouse is anticipated to make its debut at CES 2025 when Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPUs are expected to be announced.
