“As a photographer, I have been fortunate to document some of the most extraordinary and breathtaking events in people’s lives,” Vass mentioned in a news release. “When Mauli and Christian approached me with their concept of getting married on a glacier in Iceland, I realized this would be something genuinely exceptional.”

“The Katla Ice cave, set amid the breathtaking landscape of Vik on Iceland’s southern coast, is a unique place. Named after the volcano situated beneath the Kötlujökull glacier, this ice cave is spectacular. To access it, one must undertake a guided hike and descent with a trained glacier expert. After capturing their images in the cave, we ascended the glacier where Mauli and Christian exchanged their vows against the backdrop of the sunset; it was a moment filled with joy and beauty.”

Vass secured more than $6,500 in cash and prizes. This year’s contest marked the largest to date, with a 50% surge in participants and a 25% rise in overall entries.
“The wedding photography sector is flourishing with exceptionally talented artists,” remarked Luke Simon, curator of the International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards. “(The awards) reveal only a glimpse of the incredible talent out there.”
