EAST LANSING, Mich. – This weekend, the Michigan State wrestling team will travel to NOW Arena in Hoffmann Estates, Illinois, for the 60th event of the prestigious Ken Kraft Midlands Championships. Wrestling events start on December 29 and continue through the afternoon of December 30.
 
Michigan State is among 37 men’s wrestling teams participating and one of nine institutions from the Big Ten accompanying the host, Northwestern, along with Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, and Wisconsin.

Sunday, December 29

10:30 a.m. – Session One (Rounds 1 & 2, Wrestlebacks)

8:00 p.m. – Session Two (Quarterfinals, Wrestlebacks)

 

Monday, December 30

11:30 a.m. – Session Three (Semifinals)

4:00 p.m. – Session Four (Finals, Podium Matches)

7:00 p.m. – Awards Ceremony

 

Additional teams participating include Air Force, Arizona State, Bloomsburg, Bucknell, Buffalo, Cal Baptist, Cal Poly, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Columbia, Cornell, Edinboro, Franklin & Marshall, George Mason, Harvard, Lehigh, Missouri, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Oregon State, Penn, Pitt, Princeton, Rider, SIUE, Stanford, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

 

MSU has 18 athletes registered, which includes Nick Corday, Caleb Weiand, Andy Hampton, Tristan Lujan, Jaden Crumpler, Evan Herriman, Clayton Jones, Jack Conley, Braden Stauffenberg, Jay Nivison, Ceasar Garza, Marty Larkin, Luke Daly, Luke Vanadia, #24 Remy Cotton, Kael Wisler, Josh Terrill, and Max Vanadia.

 

The Spartans competed last on December 15, suffering a 21-14 dual defeat on the road against Cal State Bakersfield. The Midlands tournament will serve as the final preparation for MSU before it embarks on Big Ten competition on Friday, January 10, away at the top-ranked Penn State. Michigan State will host the third-ranked Maryland for its first home dual of the season on Sunday, January 12.
