Fiery Green Wave Welcomes Owls in Thrilling AAC Home Kickoff

– Tulane (8-4, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) is set to carry its five-game winning streak into a home match against Rice (7-6, 0-1 AAC) at 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

Tulane achieved a 91-71 victory at Florida Atlantic on Sunday during the conference opener for both squads. For their achievements, both Sadie Shores (AAC Freshman of the Week) and Amira Mabry (AAC Honorable Mention list) received conference recognition.

Shores recorded a season-best 16 points (6-for-10 from the field) while going a flawless 4-for-4 from three-point range. She also contributed six rebounds and matched her season-high with five assists.

This marks the fourth occasion this season that Tulane has secured the league’s foremost rookie accolade. Kendall Sneed claimed it on November 25, December 2, and December 23.

Mabry registered her second 20-point double-double in consecutive games, accumulating a career-high 26 points along with 11 rebounds, making 12 of her 18 attempts from the field and averaging 23.5 points over her previous two outings for the Green Wave.

Her scoring total on Sunday represented the highest in a Tulane conference opener in a minimum of 20 years.

Dominique Ennis (11.1) and Malia Fisher (10.8) are the leading scorers for the Owls, while Hailey Adams (6.5) leads the team in rebounds. Rice tops the AAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.05), bench points per game (23.7), free throw percentage (71.8), and fewest turnovers per game (14.7).
