Clemson Triumphs Over Stanford: A Thrilling 85-71 Showdown on New Year’s Day 2025

CLEMSON, S.C. — — Chase Hunter netted 22 points, Chauncey Wiggins achieved a season-best 17 points, and Clemson triumphed over Stanford 85-71 on Wednesday.

The score was even at 52 with 14:37 left when Clemson embarked on a 10-0 streak with contributions from four players. Myles Foster tallied the next six points for Clemson, pushing the score to 68-57; Stanford couldn’t close the gap to fewer than nine points thereafter.

Stanford’s longest scoring stretch in the second half was five consecutive points after leading for over 13 minutes in the first half, including a significant advantage of eight points at 25-17.

Clemson (11-3) is off to a 3-0 start in ACC play for consecutive seasons, marking the ninth occurrence in the program’s history, following a seven-game winning streak last year.

The Tigers capitalized on 25 points from 16 turnovers committed by Stanford.

Jaeden Zackery contributed 16 points, while Viktor Lakhin had 11 points, seven rebounds, and five blocks for Clemson. Wiggins connected on four of the Tigers’ eight 3-pointers, and Hunter scored over 20 points for the third time this season.

Oziyah Sellers scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting for Stanford (9-4, 1-1). Maxime Raynaud recorded 14 points and 13 rebounds for his country-leading 11th double-double of the season, and Jaylen Blakes added 13 points.

Stanford is set to face Pittsburgh on Saturday. Clemson will remain at home to host California on Saturday.
