LEWISTON, MaineSamantha Li guided the Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving squad to a victory against Bates College on Saturday afternoon, 151-53. Li was one of four swimmers who established a pool record during the competition. The Big Green women triumphed in every event against the Bobcats.

“Our initial meet of 2025 was a triumph! After our first weekend back on campus from our time away, we injected energy and broke several Bates pool records. It was wonderful to witness so many lone pine celebrations; we are incredibly proud of the women for winning every event! We are looking forward to next weekend’s competition at Yale! Go Big Green!” stated Captain Sophie Wiener.

Li established the Tarbell Pool record with her performance of 51.33 in the 100 freestyle. She also broke a pool record in her segment of the 200 free relay, clocking in at 23.69 in the opening 50. The relay team comprised of Li, Maddie Blackwell, Elizabeth Ann Stromberger, and Lane Murray broke a pool record with a time of 1:35.97.

The 400 medley relay team of Maria Uranga, Katherine Jia, Murray, and Li set a new pool record after completing the event in 3:51.11.

Jia, Izzy Mundee, and Wiener finished in 1-2-3 positions in the 200 Free with Jia recording a time of 1:55.42, Mundee finishing at 1:55.64, and Wiener clocking 1:59.96.

Blackwell, Lindsey Drumm, and Stromberger claimed the top three spots in the 50 Free with finishes of 24.36, 25.01, and 25.28, respectively.

Murray secured first place in the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.74, achieving a new personal best.

Jia set a pool record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:17.26, also recording a season best that is just about one second shy of her lifetime best from last season’s Ivy Championships.

The Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving team will return to the pool as they head to Yale on Friday, Jan. 10, and Saturday, Jan. 11, with the divers competing on Friday and the swimmers on Saturday.
