L’Oréal is among the numerous brands investing in cutting-edge skincare technology with its latest Cell BioPrint apparatus, a portable device capable of evaluating your skin and providing tailored suggestions.
Unveiled at CES 2025, the Cell BioPrint employs sophisticated technology from South Korean biotech firm NanoEnTek, measuring L’Oréal’s patented skin biomarkers to assess your skin’s aging pace, responsiveness to ingredients such as retinol, and even forecast cosmetic problems like discoloration before they develop.
The procedure utilizes advanced proteomics, examining how protein makeup in the human body influences skin aging, and offers personalized guidance based on the results.
This uncomplicated five-minute procedure involves just three steps; initially, place the facial strip on your cheek, then immerse it in the buffer solution prior to loading this solution into the L’Oréal Cell BioPrint cartridge and inserting it into the device for evaluation. The Skin Connect apparatus will subsequently take several pictures of your face and ask a few questions regarding any skin issues and aging before providing the analysis.
As of this writing, there is no confirmed launch date or pricing details, but the L’Oréal Cell BioPrint is set to pilot with a L’Oréal brand in Asia later in 2025. This device is seen as an extension of L’Oreal’s gradual integration into the technological arena to complement its extensive range of cosmetic offerings, following the introduction of its CES 2024 AirLight Pro.
Beauty technology appears to be prominently showcased at CES, with devices like the Cell BioPrint and Samsung’s innovative AI-driven micro-LED mirror presenting previously exclusive skincare personalizations generally reserved for expensive specialist consultations.
However, it should be noted that these devices may not be affordably priced anytime soon; it is more likely that we will see sophisticated skin analysis tools in department stores prior to their availability for regular home usage. Nevertheless, there undoubtedly exists a demand for such insights; L’Oréal references a survey of 2,000 US skincare users indicating that nearly 80% of participants adopt a trial-and-error strategy for skincare, with the average individual testing seven different cleansers before discovering one that meets their satisfaction.
