Discovering the Charm and Excellence of Bucknell University

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Reese Zemitis achieved her first collegiate double-double during the 51-34 victory over Colgate, an accomplishment that earned the freshman guard/forward her second Patriot League Women’s Basketball PenFed Rookie of the Week title. Zemitis had previously received this accolade on 12/23. 

“Reese keeps on evolving, and we are eager for her ongoing development,” stated head coach Trevor Woodruff. “It was well-deserved, and we anticipate continued achievements for her and the squad.”

Zemitis tallied 14 points along with 11 rebounds in Bucknell’s double-digit away triumph. The freshman shot a commendable 5-of-9 from the floor, including an exciting 4-of-7 from long range. Her 11 rebounds marked a personal, game, and season-high. She became the first Bison aside from Ashley Sofilkanich to record a double-double since Blake Matthews achieved 10 points and 10 rebounds against Navy on March 6, 2024. 

The native of Langhorne scored 26 points and secured 13 rebounds across the two games against Lehigh and Colgate. She netted 12 points with four three-pointers versus Lehigh. 

Since being placed in the starting lineup due to injuries, Zemitis has excelled, averaging nearly 14 points per game and just over five rebounds per contest. She has scored in double digits five times and currently holds averages of 8.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, leading Bucknell with 1.5 steals per game. 

She has exhibited impressive endurance during her starting period, playing 37, 39, and 38 minutes. 

Zemitis and the Bison will resume play this Wednesday at Lafayette for a 6 p.m. match.
