Edwardsville, Ill- The SIUE track and field team is set to head to Columbia, Missouri for the Alexis Jarrett Invitational. The Cougars last participated in the Saluki Fast Start on December 8, just before the winter break. This weekend signifies the second indoor competition of the season.
 
Field events on Saturday will commence at 9:00 a.m. with the men’s weight throw, concluding with the women’s shot put scheduled for 4:20 p.m. Track events will get underway at 3:00 p.m. with the men’s mile, wrapping up with the 4×400 women’s relay at 7:00 p.m.
 
Senior Taylor Lehman started off his indoor campaign by establishing a program record in the 60m hurdles at the Saluki Fast Start. Lehman clocked an impressive 8.25, finishing second at the meet and ranking second in the program’s all-time standings. Freshman Payton Carter made her collegiate debut by setting a program record in the pole vault, attaining a height of 3.65m and securing second place at the Saluki Fast Start.
 
The Cougars witnessed several freshmen making their college debuts at the Saluki Fast Start. Among them were Abigail Irvin, who competed in both the women’s weight throw and shot put, and Teegan Sullivan, who placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.47m. Jazmin West, Darrelle Rice, and Kennedy Williams all participated in the women’s 200 event. On the men’s side, Casey Borkowski took part in the men’s 300m, finishing in ninth place.
