Dive Into Excellence: Final Gear Check for Postseason at Gardner-Webb!

Boiling Springs, N.C. —- The Catawba College swimming squads are set for one last dual competition prior to the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Friday, making their way to Division I Gardner-Webb at 10 a.m. in a match that was rescheduled owing to impending weather.

 

THE MATCHUP

– Who: Catawba vs. Gardner-Webb

– Where: Bost Pool, Boiling Springs, N.C.

– When: Friday, Jan. 10, 10 a.m.

 

SAC SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK

– Juan Diego Celis and Jolina Franke have been honored as the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Swimmers of the Week

– Celis triumphed in three events (50 Free, 100 Free, 400 Free Relay) during Catawba’s victory against Lenoir-Rhyne on Dec. 17, while Franke secured two individual victories (1000 Free, 200 Fly)

– Celis and Franke are the fifth and sixth different Catawba competitors to receive Swimmer of the Week accolades this season; Catawba has accomplished a sweep of the award three times

 

GIANT SLAYERS

– Both Catawba squads will aim for their third triumph over Gardner-Webb this season

– The teams recorded victories over the Runnin’ Bulldogs during the tri-meet at the ECU Pirate Duals to kick off the season as well as at the Queens Fall Frenzy in November

– The women have celebrated three victories against GWU since the onset of last season

– Catawba will resume competition in February, participating in the SAC Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center from Feb. 4-8
