Assembling a new setup and I discovered a BIOS option labeled “X3D Gaming Mode”

Wondering if anyone has benchmarking or additional performance statistics for MSFS (preferably both versions) comparing scenarios with that feature activated versus deactivated.

Thank you!

Fascinating. I’m curious about its function.

Windows Game Mode prioritizes X3D cores when it detects a game like this simulator.
Moreover, the Windows Power Plan you opt for influences core parking, if my memory serves me right.

I own a 7950X3D. I disable Game Mode, and configure the system to utilize the Ultimate Power Plan. I employ Process Lasso to allocate the simulator’s .exe process (and exclusively that one) to the X3D cores, as well as Bitsum’s other software, named ‘Core Park’ to eliminate core parking.

I have conducted extensive tests and discovered that this configuration yields the optimal performance with this CPU. I purchased the 7950X3D when I obtained FS2024, and no longer operate FS2020, thus I lack any comparative statistics for the latter.

I have a 7900X3D myself. I suppose I could just toggle it on and off once my setup is complete and observe the results.

I strongly suggest evaluating the performance as you adjust these variables (one at a time) utilizing the complimentary testing software CapFrameX.

I possess a 7800X3D and have it enabled but don’t notice significant changes either way. AMD states in their documentation that it performs better in some games than others, so checking it on your own machine is advisable.

What is the motherboard manufacturer? AMD incorporated some enhancements in their AGESA v1.2.0.2a (which is integrated into your BIOS by the motherboard producers) to adjust certain BIOS settings to boost the performance of their 9000 series X3D processors. Some manufacturers, like Gigabyte, have extended those advantages to the 7000 series chips as well.

Each motherboard manufacturer applied those tweaks slightly differently, so it would be wise to check your motherboard vendor’s website.

My motherboard maker (Asrock) only implemented performance upgrades for the 9000 series X3D CPUs, thus I lack any firsthand experience as I own a 7000 series X3D.

Don’t employ it. It disables your logical cores for physical ones. It made my 7900X3D perform worse.

As far as I know, all it does is turn off SMT (i.e., hyperthreading, so you’ll have as many threads as physical cores, instead of double that) and it disables one core or something similar. Wouldn’t advise using it unless you have plenty of cores to spare.
