“Elon Musk’s Characters in ‘Path of Exile 2’: Players Cry Foul Over Unfair Boosts!”

Elon Musk is indeed a gamer. He has frequently discussed various games he is passionate about, including Cyberpunk 2077 and more recently, Diablo 4. However, several months back, some unusual occurrences took place when Elon began boasting about being among the top-tier Diablo 4 players globally.

That was… accurate, in a sense. His account had indeed ranked in the top 20 for Pit 150 runs in Diablo 4 for a certain period, worldwide. This raised some questions regarding how he achieved this, but as he has transitioned to a new, comparable title, this game’s community is not accepting it. Elon reportedly possesses god-tier, super-equipped, endgame-dominating characters in Path of Exile 2. However, the community and its professionals assert that that is not the case.

There’s no need to delve deeply into the intricate Path of Exile jargon, but the conclusion is that Elon possesses characters that are incredibly high level with incredibly powerful equipment to an extent that anyone knowledgeable about the game realizes the immense time it would require to grind for all this. Time that seems implausible for Elon to have, given his numerous companies, DOGE responsibilities during the Trump administration, and tweeting numerous times per day.

The allegations from the Path of Exile community here are not that he’s cheating in a conventional manner but rather that he’s having someone “pilot” or enhance his account, meaning either playing it on his behalf or providing him with gear, or he may be using someone else’s account entirely. A significant piece of evidence was a recent X stream, which at one moment attracted over a million viewers, where he engages in endgame content with his powerful character. Yet, he…does not appear to fully grasp what he’s doing. At least, not for someone who should have invested countless hours into the game to reach his current level.

I’ve watched the stream myself as someone with nearly 200 hours of experience, and yes, there are numerous red flags. Among them:

• Elon repeatedly attempts to click on a map node that is unconnected, and you simply cannot click on those. It’s essentially the core concept of the entire endgame map.
• Elon’s inventory seems cluttered with junk he has no interest in disposing of. He tries picking up maps later, appears puzzled when it doesn’t work, then manually drags them into his inventory one by one, which is not the correct method for picking up items.
• Elon plays without any sort of personalized loot filter, which is considered standard for any dedicated PC player. He runs over valuable orb currencies without collecting them, seemingly oblivious to their worth.
• Elon seems unaware of the different level requirements for weapons versus the actual level of the item itself, dismissing a powerful weapon simply for being too low without making the distinction.
• In the midst of a boss battle, he appears to fail to recognize he’s depleted his mana and only remembers to use his potion long after he should have.

Each of these may seem minor, but collectively they portray an image of an individual who should neither have a character this powerful nor be among the top-ranked players globally (which he, indeed, is).

But he’s still adept, right? This is challenging content, and he is tackling it, correct? Well, sort of. I also possess this character, an Invoker ice/lightning Monk, and while no, it’s not as optimally refined as his, it is also an exceptionally straightforward build to manage, essentially requiring two or three active skills backed by several passive buffs. The level of this character, the gear, and certainly the skill configuration mean that this character operates on autopilot for the majority of this content, barring perhaps a few of the top bosses.

Quin mentioned in his video concerning this, it would be more charming to actually observe Elon pick up and engage with a new game from the beginning rather than…whatever this is (this entire situation filled with numerous errors and lack of understanding also resembles a Diablo player who hasn’t completely grasped all the intricate details of the more complex PoE yet, where I was just weeks ago).

However, the Path of Exile community is also rather sensitive, and many are demanding that GGG take action against him for account sharing or boosting, as that violates the TOS, and other players would face bans for similar actions. Thus far, that has yet to happen, and it is challenging to supply concrete evidence of this when no one has access to the data behind the scenes. I have reached out to X for a comment regarding Elon’s gaming status and will provide an update if I receive a response.
