NASHVILLE, Tenn. – – The Commodore Challenge this past weekend witnessed remarkable performances from the Belmont University Women’s Track and Field squad in their initial indoor meet of this season.
 
Six Bruins secured placements in the top five of their events.
 
Senior Logan Gray was the leading performer in the field with a second-place result in the weight throw, achieving a distance of 19.19m. Graduate student Rebekah Stucker came in fourth in the same event with a throw of 18.26m.
 
Senior McKenna Prouty attained fifth place in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.61m.
 
Senior Nicola van der Merwe also placed fifth in the pole vault, recording a mark of 3.35m.
 
Graduate student Brooke Garter clocked a 4:47.60 mile time, finishing in second place, just .40 seconds shy of the lead.
 
Sophomore Alexa Fortman set a new personal and program record in the 600m event with a time of 1:32.11, surpassing the previous program record of 1:35.08 set in 2020 by Payton Barlow.
 
Freshmen Devin Moore and Jennifer Mims experienced their first collegiate competition during the weekend. Moore participated in the 400m, achieving a time of 59.65. Mims finished the 300m with a time of 40.44.
 
The Bruins will return to the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility on January 17-18 for the Vanderbilt Invitational.
