Tuscaloosa’s Enchanted Snow Day: A Winter Wonderland for Students

On January 10, Tuscaloosa embraced the wintry joy as University of Alabama pupils arose early to witness the first snowflakes descending.

With a picturesque layer of snow providing a lovely view, the students took full advantage of this chilly delight.

Some, including Katelyn Morgan, stirred at 5 AM, spurred by the thrill of snow on campus.

“I set an alert every two hours because I had to check if it was snowing,” Morgan expressed.

Hailing from Alabama, Morgan enlisted her college companion Andreanna Kuhn from Colorado to assist in experiencing the snow and even instruct her on constructing a snowman.

“I have never had the chance to make a real snowman, so Andreanna is guiding me,” Morgan stated. “It’s a learning opportunity.”

Kuhn explained that there’s a method to fashioning the ideal snowman. “I generally start with a small mound,” she shared. “Then I roll it and set it down. It’s quite simple.”

A considerable number of students expressed their amazement at the volume of snow Tuscaloosa received.

“Last year, it snowed merely a millimeter, and I really enjoy the snow,” remarked University of Alabama student Rose Clark. “This is just so beautiful.”

Another pupil, Aaron Gaines, remarked, “I was astonished by how dense it turned out to be. Honestly, I wasn’t anticipating it to stick or for it to occur this early in the morning.”

Beyond the campus, Tuscaloosa neighborhoods were covered with several inches of snow, blanketing both driveways and streets. Numerous yards featured footprints or small paw prints, evidence of residents seizing the chance to relish the outdoors.

The roads shimmered with icy spots, reminding drivers to proceed slowly and cautiously. Many locals and students took advantage of the snow day to forge lasting experiences with their families and friends.
