Kicking Off 2025: Women’s Tennis Takes Center Stage in Hawaii!

SEATTLE – Under the guidance of 11^th-year Head Coach Robin Stephenson, the Washington women’s tennis squad will commence the 2025 season with a journey to Hawaii, competing against the University of Hawaii on Friday, Jan. 17 at 5 p.m. PT.

There will be no live streaming or live statistics available for Friday’s match in Hawaii.

The Huskies will kick off the 2025 dual season in the Aloha State before proceeding to Los Angeles for ITA Kick-off Weekend, starting with a contest against Columbia on Jan. 24.

The first home contest for Washington at the Nordstrom Tennis Center will be against Portland on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and will be one of 11 opportunities to watch the Huskies compete at home. UW plans to host seven Big Ten matches in its inaugural season within the conference.

Washington has concluded the previous season with a 17-11 record in 2023-24, which includes a 5-5 finish in its final season in the Pac-12.

New additions to the Huskies’ roster, Reece Carter, McKenna Koenig, Sophie Luescher, and Carina Syrtveit, will be making their dual debuts for Washington on Friday.

Carter made her doubles debut alongside partner Alexia Jacobs in the fall, with the duo overcoming the No. 1 doubles team in the nation at the ITA All-American Championships.

Several Dawgs are featured in the ITA preseason poll for doubles, including Carter and Jacobs ranked No. 37, as well as Luescher and Erika Matsuda at No. 115.

In the singles rankings, Syrtveit holds the No. 104 position while Carter is placed at No. 121.
