BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women’s swimming team concluded the regular season by defeating IUP 110-92 at the Nelson Field House pool on Friday afternoon. The Huskies ended the dual meet season with a record of 7-2 overall and 4-1 against PSAC competitors.
Bloomsburg began the meet with a robust performance in the 200-yard medley relay, where Grace McBlain (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), Vanesa Valli (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk), Rylee Wenzel (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson), and Morgan Holmes (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) achieved a winning time of 1:48.41. Sarah Pickel (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon), Sadie Ludwick (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff), Ashley Martin (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush), and Samantha Linsey (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) secured fourth place with a time of 1:54.31.
Madison Osanitsch (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) clinched victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a PSAC qualifying time of 1:56.56. Ella Dittmar (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) placed fourth overall, clocking in at 2:02.31, while McBlain registered a season-best time of 2:04.83 for fifth place.
Valli recorded a PSAC mark in the 200-yard IM by finishing third overall with a time of 2:13.12, and Holmes achieved her season-best time of 2:19.64, placing fifth.
The Huskies showcased their strength in the 50-yard freestyle as Linsey triumphed with a season-best time of 24.70, qualifying for PSAC. Julia Riegel (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) finished fourth with a PSAC time of 25.63. Pickel swam an exhibition time of 25.60, a PSAC mark and a personal best for her. Meanwhile, Sydney Platt (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) posted a season-best time of 26.70 and Jordyn Kinnee (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) came in at 27.52, both as exhibitions.
Wenzel achieved a personal best time of 26.20 to capture the 50-yard butterfly, with Valli closely following in third place with her personal and season-best time of 26.92. McKenna Mizikar (Latrobe, Pa./Mount Pleasant Area) took fifth place with a time of 27.40.
Linsey celebrated her second individual victory of the day by finishing first in the 100-yard freestyle with a PSAC qualifying time of 54.63, while Sid Beers placed second with her PSAC time of 55.41.
Osanitsch earned her second individual win by taking first in the 500-yard freestyle, achieving a PSAC qualifying time of 5:12.82. Dittmar finished fourth with a time of 5:29.26.
Holmes, Beers, Cunningham, and Wenzel won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.45, whereas Pickel, Walsh, Linsey, and Riegel secured third place at 1:43.57.
Walsh claimed third in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 28.56, while Pickel recorded a season-best time of 29.30 to finish fourth.
Sadie Ludwick (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) achieved second place overall in the 50-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 32.13, while Taleah Ruben (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) took fifth with a time of 33.88. Kinnee came in sixth at 34.10.
The Huskies concluded the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Beers, Holmes, Cunningham, and Wenzel completed the race in 3:38.90, finishing six seconds ahead of IUP.
Bloomsburg will return to the pool on February 1 to honor the graduating seniors during an intrasquad meet.
