Vandal Showdown: Doubleheader Split with Warriors and Hawks!

Moscow, ID – The 2025 season has kicked off for the Idaho Vandals, and within the largest college tennis venue in the country, the men’s squad faced off against two adversaries in a single day, achieving a commanding victory in the process.

The day commenced with an early morning clash against the LC State Warriors from nearby Lewiston, ID, as Idaho made a bold declaration with the break of dawn. At noon, the Vandals nearly swept the competition, finishing 6-1.

Later that afternoon, the men were back in action as the North Dakota Fighting Hawks entered the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.

The Vandals found themselves in a quick deficit after UND secured the doubles point along with two of the first singles points, but remained resolute as Chetanna Amadike surged forward for a 3-set victory (6-1, 3-6, 6-3) to get the black and gold on the scoreboard.

Yu-Shun Lai continued the momentum in the fourth match, securing a 2-0 win (6-2, 6-4) to narrow the score to 2-3, making it a contest for anyone, particularly as Gabriel Moroder achieved a 2-set win of his own (6-2, 7-6), but the Hawks clinched the remaining singles match to secure their triumph in the dome.

The Vandals will return to the court next weekend in Oregon, facing off against George Fox and the University of Portland in two matchups on January 25 and 26.
