LYNCHBURG, V.A. – The William Peace Men’s Swimming team secured first place in four events, although they ultimately lost to Randolph College 105-82 at the Bateman Aquatic Center on Saturday, January 18th. 

Joshua Day (50 Freestyle), Joseph Williams (100 Butterfly), Noah Goetsch (100 Freestyle), and Elijah Horman (100 Breaststroke) all achieved first place in their respective disciplines. 

WPU Results:

200-Yard Medley Relay:
– The team composed of Elijah Horman, Wilks Smith, Joseph Williams, and Stone Doppke registered a time of 1:53.90, earning second place.

200-Yard Freestyle:
Noah Goetsch claimed second place with a time of 1:56.78, followed by Stone Doppke (2:09.82) and Ruben Garcia (2:10.37).

50-Yard Freestyle:
Joshua Day took first for the Pacers at 23.13, with Joseph Williams not far behind at 23.27. Wilks Smith also participated, recording a time of 25.66

400-Yard IM:
Elijah Horman secured second place with a time of 4:41.98.

100-Yard Butterfly:
Joseph Williams and Jack Lancaster achieved top times of 54.30 and 55.00, respectively.

100-Yard Freestyle:
Noah Goetsch led the squad with a time of 50.82, followed by Joshua Day at 52.93 and Wilks Smith at 58.88.

100-Yard Backstroke:
Elijah Horman and Jack Lancaster recorded commendable times of 1:00.22 and 1:04.62.

500-Yard Freestyle:
Stone Doppke and Ruben Garcia represented the team admirably with their times of 5:56.95 and 5:58.41.

100-Yard Breaststroke:
Noah Goetsch performed excellently, finishing at 1:02.84, with Joshua Day following at 1:13.06.

The William Peace University Men’s Swimming Team is scheduled to compete again next Saturday, January 25th, against St. Mary’s College. Seniors Noah Goetsch, Elijah Horman, and Joseph Williams will be recognized prior to the meet.
