Shreveport – The Centenary men’s and women’s swim squads have been honored as Centenary Athletics’ “Team of the Week” following an outstanding weekend where they achieved a collective score of 242.00 to triumph over both Austin College and the University of St. Thomas during a double dual meet on Saturday afternoon at the Centenary Fitness Center.

The Maroon and White overcame the Millsaps College Majors with a total team score of 211-151 in a dual meet on Friday afternoon, featuring a dominant 133-49 victory for the Gents while the Ladies were narrowly defeated 102-78. Saturday marked the final home event of the year for both the Ladies and Gents.

Freshman Hunter Hedges (Murphy, Texas) shone brightly for the Gents over the weekend, accumulating five individual victories and participating in two 200-yard medley relay teams. Hedges secured several wins in the 200 IM (2:05.54 & 2:06.46), the 100-yard butterfly (56.51 & 55.28), and one in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.50).

Sophomore Hannah Waddell (Shreveport, La.) continued her remarkable season this weekend as she also notched five individual wins. Waddell, who now boasts an impressive total of 19 individual victories this season, was part of the Ladies’ successful 200-free relay team. The sophomore garnered multiple wins in the 200 IM (2:19.66 & 2:23.30), the 100-yard breaststroke (109.89 & 1:11.82), and one in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.70).

Centenary will conclude its season next month at the annual SCAC Championships scheduled for Feb. 12-15 in Garland, Texas.
