In other areas of Yorkshire, additional drivers have observed a comparable fraud.

Before Christmas, Sarah Croucher parked at Burley Road Car Park, close to Leeds city center.

“You were required to scan a QR code and tap on a link, which subsequently directed you to the app store to download an application,” she recounted.

“Then you needed to enter your card information, which I was hesitant to do, but I had to make the payment, and I received a message from my bank immediately stating that the transaction could not be processed.”

Fortunately, Sarah did not incur any financial loss due to her bank detecting the scam.

When reached for a response, the website Jabberfeed first requested credit card information to “access their account”.

The next day, they stated they were taking Jacki’s circumstance “very seriously” and an inquiry revealed that there had been a problem with “Google Targeting”.

They asserted that it had been rectified and that refunds had been processed accordingly.

In a similar vein, MagnetDrive expressed: “We are very concerned about this matter and have conducted a thorough investigation of the incident.

“Our results suggest that our website was infiltrated by a scam.”

They additionally mentioned that it has since been addressed and they are implementing “strong measures” to enhance their systems.
