Rockaway Beach was shut down for swimming Monday afternoon after a number of shark sightings.
At least three shark sightings had been reported.
Authorities used drones to substantiate the shark sightings and closed the seaside for swimming for an hour simply after midday. The seaside remained open whereas beachgoers waited to renew swimming.
Shark sighting protocol is to close down swimming for an hour roughly one mile in every course of the place the sighting occurred.
This is just not the primary time sharks have shut down Rockaway seaside this summer season. It occurred a number of occasions in July, together with on July 4th.
